Stop spreadsheet apps from breaking your CSVs

For opening or editing in Excel or Google Sheets. Risky columns are stored as text (zeros, +, and long digits survive); plain number columns stay real numbers so sums and pivots still work.

A repaired copy of the CSV: trims stray spaces, renames blank or duplicate headers, gives extra cells their own columns, and removes fully blank rows. The one change to cell content: formula-like values get a leading apostrophe so they cannot run when opened. Need the untouched original for a system import? Keep using it; this copy is optional. Pair with Safe XLSX to protect leading zeros and long numbers.

For recipients who must have a .csv and will double-click it into Excel. The UTF-8 byte mark keeps accents and special characters intact. Numbers and dates can still auto-format; prefer Safe XLSX when values are at risk.

For pasting into a spreadsheet or moving data between tools. Tabs avoid comma and semicolon confusion, but spreadsheets still auto-format values when opening the file.

For sending back to whoever produces the file. A notes row under the header marks each risky column so they can fix the export at the source. Remove the notes row before importing it anywhere.

For scripts, APIs, and system imports that skip spreadsheets entirely. Every value stays an exact string, so nothing can be auto-converted.
